Sanmar was contracted for the built and delivery of these ships only recently during Seatrade Offshore and Marine Middle East in September last year.
The first ASD tug, Yenicay VI is already successfully in operation. The second, it’s identical sister, will be put into use soon. SAFEEN already an ASD tug in the Yenicay-class successful in use since April 2016. A quick delivery in combination with the already proven successful concept was decisive for choosing Sanmar in combination with Z-drives by Veth Propulsion.
The new vessels are equipped with two Z-drives of the type VZ-900 (968 kW / 1800 rpm). This arrangement gives a bollard pull of 33,71 tonnes and a spead ahead of around 12 knots.
Veth Propulsion has been able to equip seven tugs in the Yenicay class with two Veth Z-drives per ship and looks forward to the next delivery.
